Another contribution to the construction of the European Spallation Source

Supply of neutron shielding and neutron diffractometer’s components to Swedish Lund.

In the middle of 2017, NUVIA succeeded in the second tender for the implementation of the Czech Republic’s in-kind contribution to the ESS project in Sweden for more than CZK 100 million. The subject of the contract is the supply of the neutron shielding and the construction components of the neutron diffractometer, which is called BEER (Beamline for European Engineering Materials Research) in the ESS. We have completed a nearly year-long tender, resulting in the implementation of a project that should be finished in 2022.

ESS (European Spallation Source) is a giant project with international participation that will create a multidisciplinary research centre based on the world's most powerful neutron source. At the end of last year, NUVIA joined this unique project by winning a tender for the supply of several technology solutions worth more than 340 million crowns.

We continued with the BEER project in our activities in the Swedish Lund and gained the possibility to use there our patented radiation shielding solution with NuRAD 8200 bricks. Again, we could use the cooperation with our sister company Nuvia Nordic based in Sweden.
