National Personal Dosimetry Service celebrates 25 Years in 2017

15.02.2017

Our subsidiary NUVIA Dosimetry, providing national personal dosimetry service, celebrates this year 25 years of successful operation in the area of  personal radiation dose monitoring. At this occasion, we held a specialty seminar on 9th February in Prague where some 190 experts from ionizing radiation dosimetry field, CSOD´s clients and business partners, and special guests met and networked.

A part of the seminar was an official announcement of the renaming of the CSOD s.r.o. company to NUVIA Dosimetry, s.r.o., and the introduction of the new Managing Director, Mr. Milan Bunata.

The opening presentation covered history of the company which goes back to 1958 when the department of personal dosimetry was established within the Institute for Research, Production and Use of Radioisotopes (ÚVVVR).  In January 1992, the department changed to the National Personal Dosimetry Service – CSOD s.r.o.  During its existence, the employees evaluated more than 2 660 000 personal dosimeters!

The experts presented interesting insights about airplane crews dosimetry, results in measurements of radon concentration in soil gaz in the Etna volcano, changes in legislation in the radiation protection or innovation in personal dosimetry.

During the seminar, the participants filled in a survey prepared by the CSOD employees where a question was asked about the correct number of personal dosimeters measured by the company in the entire year 2016. 3 winners of the contest with the best estimate left with a bottle of luxury French champagne.
